Took a walk around the BCC / MillCreek divide today.... South facing approaches are still bony up to about 9k. (AKA Shit show)

Dug several pits on NW through W aspects and got compression failures between easy and moderate, failing to depths between 8-16" dependent on wind deposits.
I stuck to slopes between 20-25 approaching 30 degrees. Minor shooting cracks were observed, but were confined to the new snow layer. Trail breaking became challenging above 9k. With the snow being quite heavy.

The general arrangement of each pit on these aspects consisted of 6-10" highly rotted sugar snow at ground, 6-10" of reasonably consolidated snow (compression failed at this interface), capped by a 6-10" combination of heavy powder and new snow. Depths varied from place to place with all the wind activity.
Temperatures were quite warm with snow and wind picking up about noon. Made one run, that could only be described as trenching. It wasn't much easier riding down hill than it was breaking trail up.

With anywhere between 1-3' expected in the next 36 hours hopefully things will consolidate, if not its gonna be a mine field out there.
