Someone recommended skin up the snowcat track to Patsey Marley . . . I'm not great at pow, and need to learn better chops -- what do you guys think of that route, and/or what would you recommend for pow newbies that dont' mind hiking?

the north slopes of Patsey are great for learning to ride pow and dipping the toes in bc waters. I don't recommend going up the Patsey ridge to the peak as it's steep and has some cliffs. Stay at or below the cat track until you're confident in your riding and have a partner.

also, you could check out Mill D north trees, beartrap fork or some of the trees in the lower part of White Pine in LCC.

If you're wondering about area names and really want to get into it look into the Wasatch BC skiing map @ BD or REI.

Hit the gulch today . . . was amazing.

Didn't make it to Patsey Marley or the trees . . . we had people w/ us that were dead tired after getting to the gulch :) But, we did take pow runs on the edge of the gulch . . . West of Patsey and Microwave, on the Microwave side.

I'm going to absolutely be able to hone my pow skills here. Was making straight lines with half turns all the way down . . . could have used a bit more slope . . .

Can't wait to hit it again. My normal Dawn Patrol partner was with me, and we're both stoked to hit it again -- probably Tuesday AM.

Thanks again for all the pointers!
