I am headed to Moab for a day or two. Would it be worth my time to take the split and get some laps somewhere down there? If so where should I go?

Logan, head for the trailhead near Golds Basin in the La Sals. That gets you to the goods the fastest, though it is a slog in.

managed to get out this evening about 2:30-5:30pm...headed to a sheltered zone to avoid winds. Graupel was falling during this time probably about an inch while I was out. Was in Big cottonwood, north facing, elevations between 7-8600. Got one collapse, and saw a couple cracks on my way up. Stuck to manageable terrain so I didnt dig a pit.

I break trail once in a while...

Riding conditions were fantastic, had a weird combo of about a 4 inch soft graupel layer sitting on maybe a foot of super low density snow which made for some nice surfy turns and kept the wallow factor down...snow was still light and fluffy where I was, Maybe I was in a magical area but I did not notice any rain or rime, possibly sheltered from the trees??... nice to have the pow back!!...Be Safe!!

was able to go for a walk this afternoon...wanted to see what was going on with the snow before this next shot of snow falls...

headed up Red Pine
Image
pit on west facing, elv apx 10,600...little bit of sugar underneath a stout crust/windboard...snow seemed pretty locked up
Image
Had no plan today...ended up on top of Lake Peak dropped back into White Pine
Image

Every aspect in the upper bowls was wind hammered, didnt notice any slabs forming....winds were gusting about 20-30,...Id imagine any future activity up here would be limited to the new snow

Riding conditions were chalky windboard to some good spongy surfy turns.

Interested in what the riding was like today. Seems to have been warm, and snow looks like it has been melting off, especially on southern aspects. Anyone see if the snow was gettin soggy later in the day?

Even more specifically, has anyone seen the south side of superior and what's the coverage like? I know it's gonna be snowing tonight and that will affect things, but I'm pics of bare ground on the south side of Reynolds

Went up Mineral Fork, NE was really crusty, while feet away on NW was surfy facets.
On aside note: Got scolded by the avy policeman for riding up slope of him; This, as he was digging a goddamned pit right in the middle of a gully run out zone, doh! I guess the possibility of us bring down the whole mountain through the gully didn't occur him

Had fun touring the first two days of the splitfest, met cool people and had an excellent descent of superior the first day and a not so good descent off rainbow peak today. It was an adventure though!
