I found this link to be a quick and easy way to voice your opposition to the proposed Canyons to Solitude tram. We're blessed to have the mtn's we do so it's our cause to protect them. If you don't know this area is an amazing place with open glades and aspens in the winter and lot's of moose and beaver in the summer.

thanks for the link Nic.
I wrote a letter and told them to shove the tram up their ass. so hopefully I get put on some sort of domestic terrorist watch now... I really hate the political system and ethics in our state

Went up yesterday into Albion Basin/Catherine's/Rocky Point area. As UAC reports, winds were not an issue, although the snow is a mess. Ridges are bare and scoured, north facing snow is falling apart as you try to set a skin track, and everything else is heavily tracked, buffed, sculpted, etc. But, despite all that, we actually found some patches to make some nice turns.
Snow pits on the N were not showing propagation in ECTs, with mid range score failure on compression tests, Q2 shears. Overall, less 'propagation propensity' for those buried faceted layers.
But, the next weak layer is today's surface. It's a sand pit out there.
A couple photos:
Ridges were thin and rocky.
Todd Glew complained all day, but still skis stronger than me.
Rick Wyatt laying it down. Yeah!
Solo splitboarder in our group. That's how it goes.

Somebody needs to sacrifice a snowboard pronto. Preferably a solid.
Doing my best, vis a vis sacrificial offerings to the snow spirits:
Also letters sent to congresspeeps, thanks to UTAH for the quick link. Hope to be out riding with yall soon enough. Remember to keep the "Christ where's the goddamn snow?" in "Christmas."

You all can blame me... Over the summer I told Wasatch Surf I wasn't going to go out rock hounding this year... I can't count the times I said "Yeah, probably won't ride until at least mid- December"...
I'm flattered to have the ear of whatever diety's sit on the council of snow and all, but geesh talk about feeling like a complete shithead

I'm curious (in lieu of storms) if any locals would like to get out for some beacon drills? I figure there is plenty of snow to work with our beacons and it might be a good opp to put faces to names. Theres no doubt once the snow flies many of us will be thinking pow, pow, pow, so now is probably a good time to practice... If anyone has an extra beacon that would probably be useful...

yo snurfer and snowvols--
i'd be stoked to get out and work with beacons. i think i could really benefit from working with other brands than my own, just to round out the skill set. I think there's many more variables to this whole subject than most realize, and it's always great to have these discussions.
i'm leaving town this weekend for ten days or so, but if folks are still down after 12/20-ish, lets make it happen!
