Was up on the weekend of 1-15. Everything from Bishop to Mammoth looks good, but there is a rain crust layer about 8 -10 inches down. Great coverage at MT. Tom, Mt Magee, Bloody ect. However as you head north Peaks in the Lee Vining Area havent got as much snow so there are obsticals and light coverage on all aspects. Some Ridges viewed from 395 are Wind Scoured. This area still needs acouple of feet on it

I haven't been down there yet this season but I know since you were last there the Mammoth area has gotten a couple of feet of snow.

Yeah, base is DEEP at Mammoth. Looking at the eastern sierra avalnche center, looks like thesnowpack is 14 feet deep in some places. Saw that rock creek area got about half of what Mammoth Mountain got. Looks to be a little safer down there

Last time I was there (4/25) they had plowed the road to at least half way up (2 or 3 miles up), and were still plowing. Looks like they're trying to get the road cleared for the opening of fishing season. But the lakes were still frozen, so maybe ice fishing?

Can any eastsiders give us weekend warriors a conditions report? Do you think we'd be able to find some soft snow around Twin Lakes, Convict Lake or other higher elevations spots this weekend.

Was up there 3/20.
You can go about a mile or so past the buttermilks. There is one big drift about 1/2 mile out, but I got through it in morning when it was frozen no prob in 4L. It's downhill on way out so should be ok when soft too. Past that u can get about another 1/2 mileish till you hit consistent snow.
Very rough estimates

Lots of windboard on north faces. Corn on S/SE/SW/E/W if it's not windy. Going back down for day shot on Sat I think in L. Vining/Bridgeport area.

went to Basin on monday 3/24 warm weather should melt out the buttermilk road quick but we parked about 1/3 of the way to the horton lks. trailhead. corn from about 10.5k down but the upper slopes are smooth hard windboard.

Been checking some of the Eastside trip reports. Looks good now. Any thoughts on whether it will be worth asking for a few extra days off around Memorial weekend or will it all be burnt out...?
