Here's my reality, with two babies and limited funds I'll only be able to do one extended stay destination snowboard trip this coming season. Options include: 1) Wasatch Splitfest & visit old friends in SLC; 2) couch surf w/ the SB.com crew in Bozeman (thanks for the offer nomad); 3) scrubfest like a mfer; or 4) visit buddy in Spokane and ride inboads in the Idaho panhandle, eastern Washington, and/or central BC. How can I refuse any of these steller options? Please help.
I vote for Spokane as a base and go from there. Mainly because I used to live in Sandpoint, ID and also have a friend/co-worker in Spokane for easy access to all of the surrounding area. Not to mention everything else is cheap. I never had a split when I lived there and I always wanted to drop the backside of Schweitzer.
Conditions apply only if it's a good snow season up there. Last season was the first I didn't return to ride since I left.

I rode Schweitzer a few years ago and saw a bunch of dudes w/ shovels on their backs. Problem w/ Spokane is that it'll have to be all or at least mainly inbounds. Although a ripping skier, my buddy is not AT equiped.
If I were you, I'd probably plan on the scrubfest unless you can go touring around Invermere/radium/fernie etc in BC. I don't know much about Schweitzer, but every time I've driven by it has seemed flat. You're still welcome here anytime in Montana, but if this season is anything like the last, snow conditions can be VERY unpredictable. We still have fun, but pow might not be in abundance while 60 degree temps in February may.
Then again, the wasatch splitfest would be fun too.....
Acreage: 2500, 62 trails plus open bowl skiing.
Terrain: 20% Beginner, 40% Intermediate, 35% Advanced, 5% Expert
Longest Run: 2.7 miles, The Great Divide
Vertical Drop: 2,400 feet FLAT Top Elevation: 6,400 feet
Average Annual Snowfall: 300 inches
Yes, it's definitely not the steepest I've ridden or the largest place. I won't argue that. It's definitely not flat though. You have to drive 9 miles up a twisty switch back road to get to the lodge, it's not very visible from the main road driving by. It's also cheap to ride there, and has lots of accessible terrain to just barely dump out of bounds. Also, if it is a good snow year you can start at the top and ride out of bounds down the power lines all the way down to the bottom parking lot before you even start driving up the 9 miles. It's just a good start for a road trip around to hit several areas besides Schweitzer. Schwietzer Big Mountain Big Sky Grand Targhee Jackson Hole seemed like a fun tour last time I did it...

I would have to vote for the scrubfest because I never done one. But ,if you have never done British columbia and want to go cheap, check out the Best Western Hotel in Rodgers Pass. I read about all the bc access right from the back of the hotel. Wife and kids may get boored but they got a heated pool and jacuzzi

Splitfest, 'cause the Utah pow cannot be ignored. However Montana would be good, as is the British Columbia interior, and on a good snow year the Washington foothils can be epic..... oh just do it all!

I would be a fool not to vote for Scrub Fest. Come on out and join us for the goods and hangin' with the crew! It is only going to be a better low key event with good times.

Did you think I was going to show up at Nomad's house with my wife, kids, dog, and bc gear?
"Is it cool if my wife and kids chill here while you show me the killer bc around here?"
