Why use hard boots and plates? One view.

AT/Hardboots are more rigid and energy isn't lost when touring as it is in a soft boot...
If people are bitching about their gear it either isn't dialed in, or they are just prone to bitching...

Folks really should ride whatever provides them the best experience, and experience is the key...

Cheers, thats what I thought. I reckon fitness, beef jerky and lots of hand rolled drum is what gets you to the top anyways. I don't want to restart some gear war.....

For me, the reason I went to hard boots is because I wanted a boot that I could use crampons on with and keep the bulk down(I where size 12-13) compared to a double mountaineering boot. An added benefit of the hard boot is the ability to "ski" down hill in tour mode when it would be a waste of time to put your board back together.
