Picked up the dec backcountry today. Inside the front cover is the voile ad. Yes it's a new binding. It looks nice. Not revolutionary. I'll still buy a pair of sparks first.

I think they said there was going to be an ad and a review. Did you see a review?

Yes. I just read through it real quickly (on my way to a winter camping class) nothing really in depth at all. Just 3 paragraphs describing them. They have a "avy release feature which is just a cable connected between the 2 binding straps so you can release then both with one pull.
If no one else chimes in I'll try to scan the page when I get home and post it.

I remember seeing lots of these 'avy release' when K2 clickers were around... You had to attach a sling to each lever and bingo, you got yourself an 'avy release'. Maybe one of those guys ended up working for Voilé...
I don t know about all of you , but I bought my first 166 SB back in Spring of 1998 from Tahoe City's The Backcountry store. Back then, from my perspective, it was only a very few people that were even believing in the system. I sold that board and bought the next years model, and a bigger one at that.....The 182 SD that went on to change my life... Then the 195 ST......I say cheers to all that came before us and those who made this happen. They gave us this beautiful opportunity to follow our own dreams. 4 boards later , The Mojo 171 is an amazing tool, and the competition for making boards is way better than I ever thought it would be.
I say unvail what ever you got, bring it to the table, and let us get out on the snow easier , lighter, stronger, and less expensive..
Just a thought though, a truer vision, MAybe Snowshoe Thompson would ve admired the SB so much , and would ve maybe said, " WoW!... Gotta get me one of those Voile Split Boards"
Pray for snow ladies and gentlemen....

I got a look at the ad in the local shop this afternoon, my first impression: very litte change. They cut out a bunch of base material from a binding, screwed on a slider track that had been similarly trimmed down and called it a light rail. Seems like the fuse is better, it has one piece for the base, and is still lower with more material in contact with the board for lateral stability and control. The first thing I said when I saw the pic was, "that still looks really high to me". But then again, its hard to tell from a picture. The shop owner said he expects to see them sometime in December.

I for one was not trying to bash voile in any way. I simply wanted to convey what I saw in the ad is more evolutionary then revolutionary. But I think everyone knew that already.
