I headed out to the big SIA show in Vegas last week to talk about splitboarding and network for the site. My main goal was to speak with some specific companies and spread the word on splitting. Overall it went really well. I took some pics of gear too but that wasn't my main goal.

The drive to the city was uneventful and easy.


To my surprise, SFO airport had some decent eats.


To the air we go. A 9 hour drive is reduced to 1 hr 10 mins.

The next morning before heading into the show Will showed me his modded Rome boots with Vibram soles.




At the Burton booth I talked with an old contact, made a couple new ones, and Dave Downing. The S-Series remains in the line with new colors being the only change.


Over at Lib it's all about the bananas. Mike Olson and co sport the banana suits too.


Free design-your-own iron on shirts. I had to get one for my son Skyler.


Not my cup of tea but if you're into the Flow style bindings, Lib has one coming.




Volcom had the hillbilly theme going.

The next morning we confronted the Luxor pharaoh before we headed to the show.

They also have a shove/probe combo that allows the shovel to stay in tact while getting access to the probe.


A third antenna has been added for the Tracker 2.


Dinner at the Pink Taco is next. No not a strip club but a reasonably priced mexi restaurant in the Hard Rock.


The next day I found the Atomic split and got to convert it in person.

No change to the BD Outlaw pack. The Covert gets a new helmet holder.


There was probably more I could have taken pics of but like I said that wasn't my main goal for the trip.

What did you think of the Atomic?..yay or nay

was Johnny A at the Backcountry yurt?

Its hard to be totally objective without riding one. Converting the board isn't difficult but its not as easy as Voile. The lack of a tip clip seems like it should be addressed.

what was the other color for the s-series? white with red base?

Nice BCR, looks like fun.

Did you have any observations, complaints, other thoughts about the Atomic setup?

Did you have another reason for flying out of SFO instead of SAC?

I saw an Atomic split at Darkside in Golden, BC on the weekend. Frickin cool, but somewhat finicky. No doubt better performance, but at the price of a little more difficult to change over.

They only had the 162 out (white top/green base). Not sure on the 168, sorry.

No real addition thoughts on the Atomic. See some of the Atomic threads for my original thoughts. SFO was 1/2 as much to fly out of than SAC. Gas and parking added a few but it was still cheaper and the drive was easy.

Looked like a stiffer connection, especially the mid clips.
