Apologies but I don't have a lot of knowledge on helmet cams. They are cool I guess but I cant watch more than about 1 minute at a time of POV helmet cam footage. Even on burly lines, when the helmet cam view is the only one used its kinda boring in my opinion. When its mixed in with handheld footy on the same line I like it much more.

Most helmet cams should work with regular video cameras so I would focus of the hand held camera more and then ad the helmet cam piece as an accessory. As for advice on a handheld, go HD is my recommendation. :)

Good luck and don't forget to post the viddies!

hey LAYC, i replied in your thread to answer you questions

anyway, i was just going to mention that after my H-cam was ripped off with all my other stuff, i dont think i will replace it. i just never really used it enough to justify buying another one some day. maybe you will drag it along more though.

bcrider - yeah man, I'm with you regarding the helmet cam footage. I've only seen a few segments that are worthy. One would still be useful to have just to eliminate the time it takes to pull from the pack and set up the hand held. However, as far as handhelds and miniDV vs HD would a low end HD camera be worth buying over top-end miniDV?

tex - if no one has said so before now; with all due respect, that combo is kooky. Hell, I wouldn't even wear it if I were mtn biking.

jack - thanks for the answers. Sorry to hear about your gear being stolen. That blows. On the plus side you get to ride Baker all winter long!

thanks for the input guys, LAYC

Dang - I was just looking for the single best argument for helmet cam footage... jimw's conness video. But the link is broken. Jim - where is it?? That one cracks me up every time!
