^^^ - I was there and don't remember why we were walking here. my guess is just below was a hike a bike, then where jim took the pic was the next safety break, thus no need to pedal for 20 feet.
Yes, plenty of breaks, but Jim only pulled out his camera at the pit stops.

DING! PJ is correct. Now I remember... That pic was right after a climb from hell that would have left even the might jibmaster crying for mommy. Come on out and see for youself.
Now that I think about it, we did actually do some riding:

Man it looks pretty lush and green down there (well, not so much so in the last few pics) Would it be worth taking the drive from Tahoe? I haven't thrown the bike in the truck since my first ride of the season back in April. It's tough to motivate to drive anywhere with so much riding in my backyard, plus the weather has been perfect, but I could probably use a little road trip before the snow falls.

There are no mountain bike trails in Santa Cruz.
OK maybe a couple.
It's totally worth the drive. At least as much as it's worth driving from Santa Cruz to Tahoe in the winter to ride snow! The trails here will probably be great in Nov. We're supposed to get some rain starting this weekend, which will be good as the trails are a little dry. Of course, "dry" here is still way more rideable than Tahoe "dry".

Well, I'm hoping that the storm this weekend comes in a bit colder than expected and I can put the bike away for the winter and bust out the splitty. But in the likely event that there is enough snow to cover the trails but not enough to snowboard, I may have to make the trip.
You sound almost dissapointed. I'll remind you that with the gigantic airs you pull, it's probably a bad sign if you see Jesus walkin' up to you in the woods out there. Besides, maybe He can make water out of wine, but does He have a pot card??
