Wow Taylor, awesome shots! I love the middle two. Late evening, early morning? Amazing light, painterly, almost.. And the last one too, Love the moon!
knocked off something near me I've been thinking about for a while.
A lot of the long distance footpaths in England have long sections where they're for walkers only. There's one, called the South Downs Way in the south of the country, which is fine to cycle all the way, so it's become a bit of a classic "tester" route. 101 miles (not a patch on the cross continent trails you guys have!), but it follows a chalk escarpment which rivers have cut through at regular intervals, so you're up and down, up and down. 12,500 ft of climbing.
Done it a few times over a weekend, but the "SDW in a day" has always been there, a tempting, dangly, distinctly non-fun carrot. Decided with my friend Jim that if we did it, we'd never have to do it again and we could stop thinking about it.
7 miles to the train station either end, main route done in 10h40, orange sun set and a bright half-moon for the last 10miles.
Absolutely beautiful. Might even have to do it again some day! I'll stop short of doing the double, though. And the triple. Some people are bonkers.
Ned - South Downs Way sounds like a beautiful ride. You should snap and post some pics of your next ride there -- I'd be stoked to see them. I've always wanted to dirt tour England and Scotland. I'll have to put that trail on my list. With regard to the middle two photos you asked about -- the first was evening, the second morning, both with beautiful low-angle winter light. Shred on - T

And I've just finished rebuilding my '99 Dekerf Generation. Send it off to a frame builder here for a disc mount, canti boss/cable guide clean-up and a respray, along with a Salsa Cromoto fork. Very happy. SSUK is the weekend after next. Can't wait. South coast, hilly 25 mile course. From the joining notes:

...- The finish.... Rear garden at the Square & Compass Pub in Worth Matravers. As you approach go left and “backdoor man” it into the rear garden. Don’t upset the locals or tourists, or chickens, or dogs. If you find a line in the road, and done two laps, you have probably won. Expect a roasted dead animal (and a comparatively rubbish veggie option) you will be given a meal ticket when you sign on, don’t lose it, and then music, shelter from the beating sunshine, revolutionary poetry. The bar is pay as you go. Bring an appetite for 8% apple juice. You are now in a bad way and about 4 miles from the campsite. Offroad down the priests way will get you home.
I haven't been doing any mountain biking for a few years, but started again last summer, because I didn't get much enjoyment out of the non-winter mountain. Actually, it was quiet depressing to see my favourite places without any snow... Now I do ((: On the other hand my girlfriend was starting to hate snowboarding, no doubt now mtb will get on her list It's also an awesome way to get deep into the mountain and exlore some hard to access areas for some winer multi-day trip. Anyway, here is what I got just three days ago for the new season. 23lb\10.5kg, On One 456 Carbon frame
Too bad I live in the impossibly flat London area...

School of Rock, Crowsnest Pass, AB. First time back to the mountains since February.... looks as though I should hold off putting the splits away just yet.
Have a question (example the Norco bike in the last set of pics from Taft...) What's with the new trend of having a dropped top tube? Easier to bail? Mount?
