Ok please be kind and bear with me. I am in the process of splitting a board for myself to use for the rest of the season and then pass off to the wife. My intentions are to buy a factory split from Prior in the fall of 07 for myself. Anyway, I have a couple questions about finding areas to ride etc.
I live in Kamloops right now so Revelstoke is very accessible for me. But I am wondering how is the best way to scope out the area? Before going out I plan to have a GPS with full topo's and a paper topo of the area.
I guess my question is, Are there any places out there that sell pre determined "route" maps to areas? Kinda like treking/hiking maps in the summer? Or is this a do it yourself type of deal.
I would like to go with some people that know the area of course, but that may not always be a possibility.

Find somebody experienced to show you around. It's safer and you'll waste less time looking for the good shit. If you're not to big of an asshole you shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone. Everyone was a newb once.
Also, you can search forums like this one, telemarktips, tgr, etc for trip reports that can give you an idea where to look and what to expect. Some popular areas have had guide books and maps written for them. Just exploring is fun, too, except when it sucks.
