I've had the entire month of July OFF!
Unfortunately, I had to sit around and wait for the surgery date (july 18) for three weeks with a floppy, useless knee. Ever since then, I have been sucking down pain killers and wine. This is the first day since the 18th that I have been able to skip the pain killers. Got my second day of physical therapy on Tue. Will be on crutches for the next 5-6 weeks.
Full on acl replacement w/alograft and they pulled the pin out of my tibia that's been in there for the last 12 years from the original injury at Solitude back in '94.
It feels good to be back in reality. Although, I am amped to get my leg out of the straight brace and back on my mt. bike.
God, I went through my wine collection like it was the end of the world!

It's good to see TR's from Shasta. I would totally have been there...

Hope everyones summer is rockin'!
Looking towards next season!

Sitting here at work, looking at my knee that I just had fluid removed from yesterday. Had a knee basher on my last outing on the hike out (July 2). I will be going back in a week, and maybe another time. The pisser is the doc said I shouldn't go boarding, and was planning on it this weekend for my birthday. Real bummer. :(

Here's the TR:

First day was yesterday. Had a great day, till I broke my collarbone on the last run. Doh! Out for about 6 weeks. Naturally, on first day of a week-long trip. Did I say DOH?!?

You don't know what your missing, bcrider! Not everybody is insane like jimw.
I've only been hurt once on the mt. bike in 12 years of riding(am I a pussy?!).
28 years of skiing has gotten me injured 3 times. Two knee injuries (this one doesn't count) and a season ending bruised kidney - pissing blood...

But then again...I was the one who tried to convince you to start whitewater kayaking. Don't listen to me bcrider. It's safer that way...

jibmaster (or should I say "jibpussy"), I knew you would sympathize... bitch! :). I figured I was probably in trouble when my first thought after the fall was NOT "is my bike OK?" Just did a quick inspection and it seems to be fine, aside from a nice dent in my brand new rear rim. It could have been worse, but fortunately for the bike I cushioned its impact since it landed on top of me.

bcr, don't let my stupidity deter you - mt. biking is a blast! Actually I think this is my first "real" mtb injury. And I was a dumbass. It was at the end of the day, I knew I was getting tired, I was thinking "maybe I should take an easier run", and I was already mentally sketched about the section where I crashed since I ate it in the same place last year. Not a good combo.

Sorry to hear about the broken wing JimW.

BCR, you don't need downhill rig buddy. Most mtn bikers I see don't get both tires off the ground very often. You don't need to jump or go fast...until you're up for it!

jibpussy here...
get your jib on bcrider!!!!
Then again, don't follow any advice I give!
Biking is dangerous. Leave the sweet loamy singletrack to the professionals.
I'm losing ground here in Angwin due to overcrowding.
I must go out and build more trails...

[jibmaster attaches the brace and goes out for some trail-work]

"I'll be back..."

ps
thank god your bike is ok!

Fuck the doc dude.
My surgeon said that I couldn't ski this next winter. And he says he is a sports surgeon...
Only YOU can determine when you ski/ride next.

Obviously, take some time off. Get to know your body and
GET YOUR JIB ON!!!!!!

I've done this before...this is the 4th time in - 28 years - I've been taken out for the season.

Train like you've never trained before.
You're on the jibtrain dude, jib on!

The 4th time? You'd better start drinking milk and eating wheaties man.

Every panty waist I know has to get some knee surgery or some ass ache taken care of. What's up w/ this crap? Sheesh I high side my dirt bike doing 75 mph on rock hard clay/dirt and I only limped for a week. My arm was sore a tad longer but eh, that is user error for putting it between the fork legs in the middle of the crash right?!?!? LOL
Sit out an entire season... right.

Fuck the doc dude.[/quote] Well, when your doc is 60+, rides mountain and road bikes(in that order) and ski's, I would tend to listen to him. And I will be going up soon, still a beautiful snow finger down the west side of Pilchuck with my name on it!
