Absolutely nothing.

The forum/database is broken and I don't know how to fix it. Sweet huh!

-The photo can be either a jpg or a gif.
(gif supports animation and transparency layers so you don't have to use the whole picture, see mine)

-Upload it to a site for hosting.

-Get the image address.

-Go to Profile and click:

Link to off-site Avatar:
Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to.

-Paste the address of the image and submit.

mmcpheet and SF,

Notice how my avatar is gone? I recently tried to change it and now it doesn't work at all. I also know that new users cant add them either. Something is broken now but it wasn't back when we all added the avatars originally. Try to change you avatar to confirm.

Yo yo yo...

BCR - I think that something went haywire around the time you switched over to the new server (or something) last Fall when splitboard.com was acting goofy. I noticed Avatars started dissappearing around then...

If you had already uploaded an image by either of the first two methods in your profile ("Upload Avatar from your machine" or "Upload Avatar from a URL") then your Avatar continued to work fine. But you will lose it if you try to upload a new Avatar with those methods because the upload feature appears to be broken.

I'm hosting my Avatar at my personal web site. (Yeah - shout out to storn.com... visit my office corn here.) I entered the URL for the image on my profile where it says "Link to off-site Avatar."

hey hey!

You're right! :)

As long as you link to offsite and dont try to upload the avatar it works fine.

Cool - I'm glad that worked. Funny avatar BCR!

I also just realized that if you have an avatar at another forum like ttips or tgr, you can link to the avatar at that site rather than finding a way to host your avatar.

Just visit one of your posts at the other site and right-click your avatar. Choose 'properties' and a dialog will open showing the URL for the avatar image. Copy that URL, visit your splitboard.com profile and paste the link in the Link to offsite avatar field...

Yeah, that's what I ended up having to do as well.

BCR, great new avatar! I'm going to have to try that with the whippet... only double-fisted for twice the efficiency! :)

SF good luck with the office corn. I think Corn Man is full of it!
