I just found the following message from Sue Burak in the forum on the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center website. If you read Sue Burak's Eastern Sierra forcasts, you know what a great, detailed resource they are. You also know that she travels up and down the Eastern Sierra digging pits so she can provide us with this great data. Anyway it's easy enough to write a letter of support for the center and it will help them increase their funding and services.

Hello all;
I will be writing a ESAC Annual Report in May. Annual reports are important not only because they summarize the season's snowpack, ava activity, incidents etc., but are a powerful fund raising tool for the upcoming 2006-2007 season. We hope to hire another part time next year and possible another full time forecaster soon.

An important part of an avalanche center's annual report are the letters of support received from the community. All letters and emails of support are published in the annual report. If you think ESAC has provided a worthwhile service and can take a few moments to write something, I will be stoked and happy to include your comments.

Emails can be sent to

Written letters can be mailed to ESAC, P.O. Box 1505
Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546

Thanks alot!
