Hey folks. I'm going to be staying in SLT for a wedding, and some friends of mine (who have never done any backcountry) expressed interested in earning some turns this Saturday. I'm always trying to get more people into the backcountry, so I jumped at the chance, but I'm afraid I don't know SLT very well at all. I am looking for some trail recommendations.
It will be short and sweet. We'll have from 8 AM til about 12:30PM or so before we have to get to the wedding. So the ideal trail would be something we could drive to promptly from SLT, skin/hike up for maybe 2.5 hours max, and then ride down. Or, alternatively, maybe a 30-45 minute hike that we can loop a few times.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I know of a few great places for this on the north shore (e.g., Mt. Rose meadow area), but I never spend any time in SLT so I'm clueless. Help?

Based on what you've said, these are a few SLT tours that should do the trick. www.thebackcountry.net/ has some great info.
Thanks! That's fantastic, exactly what I was hoping for. Waterhouse looks short & sweet, though some of the guys I'm going with aren't used to trees. I'm sure we can spot a sparsely-spaced line for them, on the approach. I don't want to scare anybody off from doing future trips with me!
I never knew The Backcountry had such a nice website. I used to go in there all the time when I lived in TC, as it was on my route to Syd's for my "just chocolate chip cookie" fix. Really cool people.
