Oh SNAP! You did not say that. Trying to play on the teenager's natural insecurity about his "maturity". Oops, I'm a 40yo degreed professional with two kids.

My retort:
"I'm mature enough to not judge somebody by what's strapped to their feet, or even cater to the narrow-minded luddites who do. Hell, my 9yo son is that mature."

Taos has only gotten 54" of snow so far this season. Snowshoe, WV has them beat.

I tele ski too...in fact my new tele's just came in the mail and im going home to set them up and do some shitty night skiing....BUT NOT BEFORE I DO A COUPLE OF LAPS SKINNING WITH THE SPLTIBOARD 1ST!!!!!

Some of you did get the point, that is it's not about what you ride, just that you get out and ride. I'd be stoked to have as many friends to go for a tour with, but it seems around here alot of people have left town for other snowier locales. All I've got left to choose from around here are punk fuckin' kids who think the park is the shit. There are no serious bc riders/skiers.

As for those close minded fools, Alta and Taos; well, I do want to ride their terrain, when I want to ride lifts, but until their attitude really changes to acceptance of snowboarders, well, fuck them.

But I do really wnat to see more photos of snowboarders shreddin' the pow.

Nah. They're not worth the little typing I've already done already. Also this like-so-totally-mature-omigawd person did not sign the email.

I continue to strive to someday be as "mature" as somebody who refuses to let my kids and I ride their mountain because they *assume* I'm a punk-ass, foul-mouthed, baggy-pants-wearin', chain-danglin', knuckle-dragger who sideslips the pow and postholes their skin track. Someday... <heavy sigh>...

But I'm a knucklesplitter, dammit, not a knuckledragger.

Hey Knucklespitter, thanks for the tip. I have been having so much fun with the people at Taos. They sent me the same reply they did you about maturity. I told them I was mature enough to recognize discrimination and could get a copy of their operating permit, and see them in court. This is really fun. Thanks for the free entertainment

Anyone riding a snowboard would not like Alta that much. There is tons of traversing to get to some of the best terrain.
But hey, more power to you boarders.

p420 - If you were to force them to open up to snowboarders, you'd be doing them a favor by giving them a face-saving way to accept more customers. On the Taos website they advertise that they haven't raised ticket prices in years and they have no lift lines. Hmmm... wonder why?

Also notice how the numbers trend. Snowboarding is growing. Skiing is shrinking. Very forward-thinking business plan there, to bet on the shrinking market!

When you add in the fact that any family or group that either has a snowboarder in it or doesn't want to spend the day with a bunch of snobby dickheads will choose some other option, the writing is on the wall. It will change at some point. I just hope the current ownership goes bankrupt first.

Maybe they'd open up to riders if we had our own drinking fountains and sat at the back of the shuttle bus. </satire>

I think maybe Taos with its southern latitude will be one of the first ski-resort victims of global warming. It's perhaps already showing. They've had several really-low snowfall years in the past decade or so.

'05-'06 = 54" so far
'04-'05 = 255"
'03-'04 = 249" (not bad... for December in the Sierra)
'01-'02 = 143" (Ouch!)
'99-'00 = 153"
'98-'99 = 215"
'95-'96 = 196"

They claim 305" on average, huh? But who's counting, right?

Ahhh... I do love ripe schadenfreude at times.
