I am coming in to SAC for a few days for 1st Cali trip. GF in tow, so most likely resort IB plans. If anyone has any suggestions for places to stay, go etc. I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Do you know if your going to North or South Lake Tahoe? Do you want nightlife? How much cash you willing to put down?
As far as resorts go, it really matters what your looking for. My favorite overall is probably Kirkwood although I've never boarded Squaw, which is legendary--but very expensive. Mt. Rose is a pretty sweet local kinda resort. Alpine Meadows is awesome. Sierra-at-Tahoe has some sweet tree runs but tons of gapers.

hi mtnwriter,
I wish I had some good beta for you but unfortunately I don't know much about the lodging in Tahoe. As for the resorts, it would be cool if you could check them all out. Maybe you can find a package deal?
Feel free to stop by my place on hwy 50 on your way up the hill if you need a pit stop and a fresh cup of coffee.
I stayed at the truckee hotel last time i was in tahoe, its right downtown and relatively inexpensive. Rooms are small but it is right down the road from Squaw - it was good for a hardcore hit the mountain kind of trip.
There is always the casinos in Reno and South lake if there are ulterior motives...

there's casinos on the north lake also, with cheap rooms. I've also heard the little hotel at Boreal is cheap. And the Crown motel in Kings Beach isn't bad either.
You can't really beat cute little cabins w/kitchen for >$90/night. The people there are super friendly, giving out free homemade brownies, coffee & hot cocoa. They have a video library with several hundred titles and free make-your-own Belgian waffles for breakfast. Close to casinos if you're into that. The main drawback is that King's Beach is a little distant from the resorts. 1/2 hour or so to Alpine Meadows in good weather, but more if there's lot o' snow.

Oh yeah - some of the cabins allow dogs.
I hear those places are really nice, just a little on the small side.
