This reminds me of the rim size wars on mountain bikes. 26, 650, 29, yadda, yadda, every niche needs peronalized gear. It's gotten overwhelming. If you can afford a quiver of splits, go for it- these would be nice for the reasons some have mentioned. But riddle me this: If it's got more than one split, doesn't it then become a splitzboard???

What else can we look forward to?

Forget for a minute the pros and cons whilst in touring mode: what is a three and four piece splitboard going to feel like on the way down?

Each of those extra clips, board-board interfaces and board-binding interfaces are going to introduce more places for the board to 'V' transversely and mess with the torsional properties of the board.

No problem if you're on nice fluffy powder all the way down but life's not like that.

A little but too niche within a niche.

Moreover it looks like the bindings are larger than the "ski" width in touring mode, could be an issue in deep snow...

So, uh, is there any more 2015 stoke that isn't a three piece, four piece or whatever splitboard

BTW for those that didn't catch it the first time I posted a link; there is a perfectly good three piece split thread here. Geek on :guinness:

Would rather be concerned on steep ascents. Seems, 3/4-piece splits make most sense with hardboots.

If I skied as well as I snowboard I would but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I also know a bit about the new Karakorams but I think we'll all have to wait until after SIA to know more. They have some good ideas.

I hear the new K's have a spring loaded perpetual motion device that will actually walk uphill for you. And they are coming out with a women's model with pink sparkles.

^^^^ This is really cool, and the Spark/Burton binder too

I am stoked to see larger companies working with these smaller split-binder manufacturers. First because it will spread the word about rad companies who are innovating like crazy and deserve some more recognition. Second, this will get more people riding on better gear and therefore more people will have a better expirience (better ride mode, easier touring) when they go splitting.

This will grow the sport more than anything else

That is called pushing the program forward my friends. :thatrocks:
