Looks as if I'm relocating to Salida later this summer. Any splitters there? Or anyone who splits regularly in the Collegiates, Mosquitos or northern Sangres? I know only one person there who skis backcountry; I'll need new pards.

I'm down in NM, riding mostly Taos and Santa Fe but spent a lot of time this season at Monarch riding lifts with the family. Definitely want to split the pass next season. I also do a fair bit of splitting on Wolf Creek pass and even some in the Durango Silverton area.

I get out to monarch a decent amount, and then on the bigger peaks in spring. Salida is a nice town, I could probably live there. Plenty of touring to be had.

Hit me up next season. I tour quite a bit in the area as it is much nicer to drive west from my place and avoid all the traffic & the junk show over in summit. You will also be pretty close to CB which is an amazing zone :)

Nice, HFT and southparksplitnek. Will do - I look forward to shredding together. My lady landed a good job there; I can work remotely. Yes, nice enough town with a great backyard haunt: High annual snowfall, catches storms from most directions, is high and holds soft snow, and has many low angle treed options for hazard avoidance (Colorado snowpack scares the hell out of me).

Yes, Salida is a great little town.

Few things to do in Salida, from my limited experience.

1) Have a mountain bike. Monarch Crest is a super fun ride.
2) Get a boat, kayak, something for the water. The water park they made is pretty cool
3) Fishing rod will be good. They have some big ole fish there.

Not sure how Salida did this year for snow, or parts, I expect well. I don't make it up there in the winter much, but should be fun. Welcome to Colorado!

Rad you guys. Thank you. Can't wait to shred with y'all--big, big, big part of what's made me tick for 31 of my 40 years now.
