They are made in Switzerland, and they look a lot like Coll-tex CT-40 skins to me. Only the metal part of the tipclip is different. If they are, philip.ak is right and they will be somewhat similar to Gecko's. Although you can't stick the CT-40's together because they will stick together forever. I want to try these, but they are hard to find.
Since Gecko didn't patent their tech, at least three manufacturers will bring a similar skin very soon. You can already buy the Colltex ct-40 and Kohla Vacuum base for ski's.

He still has to get them into the hands of people, which has much larger carbon footprint - you get most of the materials from few (5, 10, 15?) locations and then ship them to millions of different people. Unless he uses mules for distribution, this is where the carbon footprint lays.
I am interested in the skins. I will think of a carbon free way to get them, while we find out are they rebranded or in-house design.

I've seen a kiddo solid board though this year as his daughter is rockin' one @ Squaw (my daughter is on the same team) and they look pretty durable in comparing this years low tide wear/damage to her board versus my daughter's chicklet.
