I've found out through the grapevine that Kevin volkening, ice worm here on sb.com, has died in a climbing accident. He was the only person as far as I know to traverse the Juneau icefield on a Splitboard.

I've never met the man but he was talked of fondly from all the JIRP staff.

I had the pleasure of meeting kevin during my freshman year in montana. he was an adventurous and motivated climber whose life was unfairly cut short.. positive thoughts go out to his friends and family. many turns made this winter willl be made for him.
