Hi all,
New splitter here. I was a long time boarder and over the last couple years have been an AT skier but am making the switch back because I miss boarding too much.
My question is this, is there any Oregon riders on here that split with their dog(s) and if so what are their favorite places for doing so? I'm particularly interested in the Mt. Hood and Central Oregon areas but if you've got info on anywhere else that's cool too.
My criteria for a dog friendly backcountry area is this:
No government imposed restrictions against dogs in the area. Nothing too steep, generally under 35 degrees. Minimal objective hazards like cliffs and crevasses.
I know dogs in the backcountry can be a debated topic. I promise my dog is well behaved. She doesn't jump on people, love's all other dogs, and all the poop she drops she's responsible for hiking out in her saddlebags.
Bend was rated the most dog friendly city in the nation. I take my lab up Mt. Bachelor in bounds hike zone after hours and on all my other local ventures. Nobody frowns on a happy pooch in the snow over here.

Hey SplitinBend, thanks for the reply. That's a great suggestion to tour Bachelor after hours. Nice and close, and especially now that our evenings will be getting lighter. I guess that's one reason to be thankful Bachelor doesn't have night skiing.
Anyone else got spots they like to go splitboarding with their pup? I'd love to hear about it. Or photos of your pow hounds swimming through the backcountry? I'll post mine as soon as I get some!
