Smithers/Terrace Splitting - Your thoughts?

Hey fellas,

Not really a frequent poster but long time lurker and fan of the site.

I've been splitting the last two years and trying to find a way to combine my work with living in the mountains. Just recently a job opportunity has come up in Kitimat, located in coastal NW BC. Really close to Terrace (Shames Mountain Co-op) and Smithers :headbang:

Just wondering if anyone here has has any splitting (or general) experiences they can share about the area. Big decision and any help would be appreciated!

If all goes according to plan there will be one extra place in the area for other splitters to crash and have a few adventures!

I live in terrace. The backcountry option here are endless. The snow is deep. It's uncrowded, shames is great. Like a lot of other places a snowmobile opens up soooo many other options. Especially for kitimat touring. Kitimat holds the canadian record for snowfall in twenty four hours, it gets deep here. Also there are a bunch of excellent overnight options using heli for access with cabins. They're a fifteen minute flight from town.

It's official, gonna be heading up there at the end of the summer. Time to start saving for a sled! I'm gonna be looking for partners so maybe we can link up at some point
