I searched this site and I thought I found the perfect thread until it turned to side cut radius's and magna traction sucks debate (I like my Magna Traction on icy groomers).
Anyway, I'm 6'-4" and 220lbs +/- 10lbs with size 13 boots.
I'm looking for a wide board that's 170 ish and has a waist width above 26.5.
The Venture Storm 171/27 seems to be perfect. What other boards compare/rival the this board that I should look at. A directional, set back board is fine as I won't be riding switch or hitting much for tricks in the BC.

Can't really speak to jumbo boards, but I do have a 168/26 Zephyr and I love it. I demoed a Storm last year and didn't like it very much, too much setback for me. My resort board is a twin though (160, with Magne btw) and I ride switch quite a bit. The Zephyr is a better board for me than the Storm, for sure. So, even though you say you won't be riding switch, don't rule out the Zephyr 169/27.
On the subject of Furberg though, permnation let me try out the 167 yesterday inbounds at Wolf Creek in 17" of fresh and I freaking loved it!

Thanks for the input. You have my wheels spinning thinking about the 169/27 Zephyr. I’ve been riding different versions of the Lib Skunk Ape (167 & 165) for the last 3-4 years and love the board. A true twin tip is something that I am very comfy on. It would be nice to ride switch not just for fun but being able to switch on long traverses, etc
The Furberg looks awesome but they seem hard to come by.
Ideally I would like to buy used and the Zephyr will be way easier to find used than a Furberg.

I would sell my furberg 173 from last season once my new ones arrive in a couple weeks or less. Send me a PM if you are interested. Nate
Nate, I sent you a PM. The Furberg sounds pretty interesting. My main concern is if its wide enough for size 13 boots. I read on the 14 page thread its 270 waist width rides narrower than a "traditional" side cut radius board (279-270-290).

No rival I know, I love my Storm.I have a 170-something and 28cm at the waist, it was the widest I could get at the time. The board is heavy, but very durable.

Berts, I just measured the 173 today. It's 270 waist and in front of my front binding on ref stance it was almost 280. I rode this board yesterday for the second time and had a blast. The 167 is more in my wheelhouse but with 17" new, it's all good. Chrishami is coming back on Wednesday for a 2nd ride on the furbergs.

I am really looking for a split. I can split it myself but I would rather not. I guess if a solid Storm 171/27, Zephyr 169/27 or a Furberg 173 fell in my lap for a screaming deal I would go that route.
I'm looking for a split that I can ride for many years to come.
