I am planning to hit up the eastside of the Sierras this spring and was wondering if anybody had suggestions on places to stay. Probably in Lee Vining or June Lake. Thanks
Not sure if you'd be into it but most of us on here boondock camp/car/tent it. There are a few cheap hotels in both spots for a hot shower too. Shouldn't be a problem getting a room in either little town. Lots of nice hot springs and awesome camping.

Yes that is definitely an option. Is camping typically done at the trailhead or at a campground? I see two options for hot springs. One by Bridgeport and the other by Mammoth. Are there others in that area?

I've stayed at gull lake lodge at June a couple of times and thought it was a pretty good deal. Suites come with a kitchen so you save money on eating and it walking distance to Tiger Bar, which should not be missed.

Good point about supporting the June Lake economy. I have spent some time there each of the last two summers. A big plate of nachos and an IPA at the Tiger Bar sound like heaven after a days tour

I'll second the Convict Lake vote.... Great backcountry right from the doorstep... Check out the Kalifornia Splitfest trip reports from 2011, 2010, and earlier... Great stuff... And with that deal for $100 spending money while staying there, yummy... Food is top notch...

As seen at Travertine hot springs a few months ago (mtnrider you seeing this?? ):
But seriously... tons of great car camping out there. If you want something in between car camping and luxury resort (i.e. Convict Lake, Double Eagle etc), Mammoth RV park is good. Reasonable rates and hot tub/shower access, and open year round.

June Lake. Town is struggling and needs business. Tiger Bar chips are worth it alone. Tons of hiking around there as well. The villager is an awesome old spot. Have fun.
