The problem with posting rules for newbies and impatience with beginner questions is that you discourage the newer people from participating in the forum. How careful does someone have to be of posting a repeat question? If there is a question no one wants to answer, let it go unanswered. How difficult would that be? Let the newbies make their mistakes. Show a little patience and you'll help this forum thrive .

You got a great point. TGR mags make it difficult to address anything without getting ripped a new one. As someone being newer to the backcountry all together, I had to put in some work to educate myself. This site is a great source. However, if the research on this site is done, the information and reviews are there. Google always links my q's back to older threads which is awesome. With that said, I love passionate TR's.

I'm not a big fan of TGR for this reason. Sometimes they are funny. But if I want comedy I can go watch John Belushi clips. If I want my ass ripped I can talk to my boss. I get TGR, it's not for me, but an answer, or even no answer is all somebody is looking for. I think SB.com has a good balance. A good ass ripping or finger point is great, but 30 know-it-all, internet junkies making fun of a question?

Funny thing about TGR, if you meet some of the big names over there who call themselves "rippers" you will discover they dont do much out of bounds and really are just average riders.

A boring TR beats no TR at all imho. Too many rules in terms of contents will prolly drive people away. Nowadays many people have their own blog so it can be quite time-consuming to post in many places, although I must say doing a copy-paste of of html code from one thread into another does not take much time.

I like ricorides' idea of a catch-all thread for random pics that would not make it into a TR otherwise. It could be a sticky at the top. Would certainly increase content and give some valuable info about beta etc...

I realized after my last TR that there was a different vid section. Lesson learned. Still not sure it makes sense to split the vid away from the TR and into that section. I think it is nice to have all the TR content in one place.
