i saw this on wildsnow, did a search here and saw it mentioned in one thread... but i think it needs some more representation. i hope these Kimberly kooks have success with this thing.





sooo, love it? hate it? or what?

if it made those hills without having to turn out, i would be seriously thinking about it. but i would say it could handle 90% of the forestry roads i snowmo on as is. And theres no trailering of the machine. it handles tight-ish trees pretty good, hopefully no insurance required...

i emailed asking about a retail price, but havent gotten a reply yet.

That's pretty rad. I think it needs more power and a bigger track

Clever, but I'd be worried about being pushed into a tree well or somewhere else I'd rather not be.

Also, I enjoy touring; the exercise, the fresh air, the quiet, etc.. This device would negate all of those benefits.

Are you gonna ride down your line with that thing? Or leave it at the top and hike back up to get it?

I guess it'd be ok if you had miles of flat to kill on a long approach, and you were confident that the snow on the approach wouldn't melt out on you... would suck to carry that thing 5 miles back to the car.

If you really hate skinning enough to spend $$$ on that thing , you're probably better off buying a cheap snow machine...

I would be afraid if I was touring (striding) and that machine grab the back ski and ran over me.

its got a kind of deadman handle where u just let go and it stops... but yeah you prob wouldnt want to free-heel in front of it lol.

i like touring also, but in my area its a minimum 15km (9.5 mile) of forestry road to get to the base of the good lines. i am just not man enough to do 10 miles of flat each way, so ya i already do have a cheap sled that does me just fine. but trailering and untrailering is a pain, and both the trailer and the snow machine require plates (added cost). and this is four stroke, whereas my sled is two stroke / blue smoke.

no jefe i dont have any illusions that this will help me top out in any way . like Lou Dawson says, strictly an access tool.

i wont say its the holy grail or anything, but it got my attention, and i knew it would get SOME kind of reaction on here...

Ah, in that case I don't blame you, I'd probably have an approach sled as well. I've often considered a sled for the Uinta range here in Utah, but like you, it would be for covering the flats. And as a bonafide tree hugger I'd likely go with a four stroke and drive like an old man (oh wait I am an old man )
