well, having grown up with snowboarding i'm familiar with a lot of the history.
i've only been splitting a couple years though, and apartantly they've
been around for at least 10years. are there any articles with any sort of
history about splitboariding? haha. i think i just invented a word.
if not, what do you know about it?
.....hey there BCR when it comes time to do this history of splitboarding story I hope you will contact me, I have access to a fair bit of info that was happening w/ Nitro and their 169 Split, the 1st splitboard in the USA in Spring '90, the board that Cowboy and Dave [?] from Shred Alert started tinkering with before going to Voile...
...or something like that, that was many years and many sessions ago...
nice to see things going so well over here in the last few months...
Sorry for the lag time BC Rider. Haven't been on many forums lately. I'll be in touch with you about the history piece. We'll need to do a little digging for the Fristche/Nitro stuff from early on also.
Who came up with the idea of a split board? Was it a snowboarder or was it a natural progression that the snowboard companies headed toward. A little history please....

I've heard that first ideas and samples has been i.e. in bavaria in the late 80's by a guy named Stefan Schiele, who is the manufacturer of todays "t3". look here: www.t3-splitboard.de in the beginning they worked with 2 pieces, later with 3 pieces.
I'm sure he can tell you more! contact him!

So what about the splitboard history? Does it exist somewhere? It would be very interesting if people who know the pieces could put them together to form a brief history of splitboard and splitboarding. I googled a lot to know at least some of the history of splitboarding but there are sure people who know much much more how it all began. Separately in Europe and in the USA... companies, pioneers, projects, hardware, patents...
