Nice! But you only got 2 pages, WTF? That hardly scratches the surface!
Hey, I'm in that opening pic. In front of me is fullers2oh, who moved to the southern hemisphere and disappeared, and scruffy in the lead, trying to figure out where the next step should go since at that point it was about 6" of fresh on top of solid blue ice. And TEX, isn't that guy in the back your annoying skiier "friend"?? Fun times.
Wish I had seen this earlier. I have a ton of pics from old splitfests stored off somewhere. Maybe we can use this thread to maintain a broader "living" history. Also, in case folks didn't see it, nice job on the page cataloging the various splitfests: http://www.splitboardmag.com/blogs/spli ... nd-future/

I've only been to a couple splitfest here in Utah. It seems like the focus was 1.) Education such as assessing snow and mountain travel. 2.) Product development and 3.)FUN. It's where I first met characters like Bob Athey (Wizard of the Wasatch) and Brett Kobernik (Kowboy). Who set the example and made me think differently about my art. I would throw some love to Voile. Love em or hate em. It doesn't matter what dirt bag splitfest it is they are the 1st to step up and show support. Not just by throwing a shirt here or a jacket there but by going full out. I always kind of questioned why since guys wouldn't really return the appreciation. But they still without hesitation would throw down and set the standard for others to follow. I also love how Voile is not afraid to take a political stance to advocate whats best for splitters and support Avalanche centers and Avalanche science. I hope other companies see the importance of these events because it builds the community and provides the opportunity to educate and hook people up with solid partners who share the same passion. Looking forward reading the article.
On a side not I swear at one of splitfest a guy came and pitched his idea for a snowboard. Basically it was bannana shaped board what later became a full rockered board. I kinda laughed at the idea but he swore it rode powder like nothing else. Anyone remember that guy.
UTAH, that post nailed the essence of the splitfest. We must have been at the same one - I remember scooby2 showing those boards. That was the only Utah splitfest I went to, and it was awesome. The first day me and dutch marc tried to tour with Bob Athey and a few others, and after a while they basically told us how to get out of the drainage to BCC because they were going over another ridge and we were lagging. I had never seen people skin like that!
Anyway, here are a few pics of scooby2's awesome creations that he brought to that splitfest:

the first time i heard of splitboard.com was at virginia lakes in 2005 or 2006?
there was a group of you guys camping at the end of the road. maybe a past splitfest?
we rode the south peak double chutes and wrapped around down onto that main face of south peak. when we got to the bottom one of you guys congratulated us on our line and said how you were watching us climb up the ridge.
they told us about splitboard.com and i thought you guys must have been in the industry or something. i didnt know about the forum until much later.
anyone remember that?
I was there and remember you guys descending. there is a tr from that weekend on here somewhere.
If anyone knows about any other one and can provide some basic info, it would be great! for example: Event Name, When, Where, How Much, and Contact Info.
thanks everyone!
