Thanks Christoph, Yeah it's a beautiful place. We were fortunate to have the climb, and the summit, all to ourselves this trip, but yeah there can be quite a few people out there. That must have been an awesome, (and early) sunrise. That would be pretty killer to experience. How's Rainier looking? I haven't forgotten. I've just been super busy.

Thought I'd bump this one back up to the front page. The seasons are definitely starting to change (for the better) in Tensleep, WY. Still have the rest of Sendtember, then Rocktober and onward to shred season!

lots of great trip reports and pics...thanks for the stoke.

my wife and i haven't been climbing much for the past two seasons...focusing on other equally fun pursuits.

spent this past weekend on the east side - did some trail running and mountain biking, and we squeezed in a mini-alpine climb near the mammoth crest that was perfect given we are both a little rusty. croft has yet to let us down and we've done a number of high sierra routes of the last five years...if you've only got a half day or haven't been out in a while, crystal crag is pretty fun - two pitches of 5.6ish climbing with some loose stuff but generally good quality rock, then some 4th class or so on the ridge to the summit and a descent down a scree-filled gully. killer views, alpine feel and about an hour from the trailhead to the base of the climb.

and my wife topping out the crystal (quartz) section of the 2nd pitch (we stayed roped in for the ridge section and simul-climed - that's why a section of rope is around her shoulder)

Wow, I had no idea there were routes up Crystal Crag. Have to check that out...

Was in Bend the other weekend and checked out Smith Rock NP on the way out. What an incredible climbing area with unlimited potential:
