If I'm picking the spot where the Epic pow is,

Wasatch- solitude or snowbird, I had one of my best days ever at the 'tude
PNW- Baker or Crystal, some of the funnest terrain around.
Colorado- Silverton or A-basin (yeah, I know, but a deep day at your home mountain is hard to beat.)
International- Damn, I don't know, Alps, or the southern alps. Cham for sure but would want a local guide to maximize enjoyment. I could definitely use a couple more bottomless days at the small NZ club fields.
AK- been to Valdez so I'd like to check out Haines, Juneau, or Cordova. I'd love to make it back to Aleyeska and get out with CPG
Japan or Russia would be cool too. I'll do that one of these days.


I guess what I'm saying is, there are a ton of places that I would like to ride epic pow, well, because epic pow is good anywhere that there is a slope around 35%.

BTW this thread sucks because it's been about a year since I had bottomless pow.

I have been discussing renting our house for a season and trying some new digs with the wifey, but it is hard to beat a good pow day @ home in Steamboat. That said, I would like to tail any of you @ your home mtn. on a good day.

It ain't that hard to beat a pow day at steamboat.
Since I've ridden all over CO and CA, and spent a lot of time in Haines, I'd like to check out somewhere different, though it's tough to beat AK or the big lines on the eastside,most of which I haven't ridden yet. Maybe S. America or BC.
And someone needs to hook shredgnar up with a pow day!

Wolf Creek back-country. Snow often starts here at the end of the summer monsoon in September--tropical gone shred. Owing to its fortuitous geographic positioning, this remarkable place consistently has some of the very best and most snow in North America. Then there's the hot springs and pepper dishes at Kip's. Shred mecca. Here's looking at you Rico and Flag lurkers.

Global:

1. Chile. I want to find and shred the southern hemisphere's sister to the Chugach. By climate maps, Patagonia seems to be it, and that's where I'm going this summer. Who's in?

2. Japan. I've been yearning for Japan's bottomless deciduous woodland terrain for too many years. What a stunning aesthetic. This is one of two options for next winter. The other is...

3. Shames. A tiny community-owned ski area over-topped by endless coastal back-country? I'm scared I may not come home. Maybe I'll bring a baby mama along and call it good. Look out Canada...

You beat me to it. Wolf resort takes some getting used to to know how to make it through the flats. Wolf backcountry? Kickass.

Yeah, Wolf Creek is fun but the flats kill it for me. Even though last time I went, I had no probs on a 12"+ day, the length of those cat tracks after a really short steep run just bums me out a little.

BUT, have you seen the plans for their expansion into the area to the east of the resort? Forget what it's called but it looks like it will make Wolfie A LOT more interesting.

cool topic! Im trying to shred in every state that has legitimate mountains, so far i've done 8. (co,wi,mi,ut,nv,ca,wy,id) PLUS all your big pow places:
AK, BC, CHILE, and then theres everything on the OTHERSIDE of the world!!!! japan, europe, NZ.. i need some lotto money to tour like that... im starting with states close to me and working my way out in every direction!! HAHA and I second silverton over wolf, potential at wolf if you know the area but SO MUCH REAL vert in silverton!!! The reason I started this hunt for new resorts because I was tired of feeling like colorado is flat..

so if your a state that I have not visited yet hit me up! i love to explore. and looking for new areas every year.

next year I want AZ, WA, and OR. east coasters ned not apply.. HAHA not hate only big mountain snow love.

After a little more thought, I want some huge vert, the never ending run, so my list would be:

Kamchatka
Denali
Mt. Tom and some other Eastside giants
Somewhere in the alps where I can shred a 2500m line and then gorge on wine and pastries
Andes for my summertime fix.

And forget blower. I want 'em spackled with just a bit of sugar on top.

one thing about hitting epic pow is the crap shoot of nailing the weather even if your at a mecca like AK. wolf creek or BC's powder highway. a month or 2 in an RV would be the ticket.

I've never had a bucket list until after ice skating in Honolulu (the ice rink is a great way to cool off) then Visiting the volcanos of Hawaii, to me a real badge of honor to take to skibum heaven would be to ride 13.000' Mauna Kea (with an appropriate ceremony of thanks on top) then hit the surf after. not exactly blower but I can find that closer to home.
beside that, Chile in Aug. would be a great summer vacation.
