So long story short, I'm leaving my job in April and moving west. I was originally planning on heading up to AK to ride for about a month before finding a job that would hopefully allow me to stay up there for longer, however the more I think about it, the more logistically challenging and expensive it is.

So I just recently had the idea of heading out to Washington instead to climb and ride until June. The options up there seem just as endless as AK, but cheaper and seemingly easier to plan. But... It still isn't AK (spent a summer up there a few years back and have yet to find an area in the lower 48 that can truly compare).

So what say the rest of you? April is creeping up on me faster than I could have imagined so it's time to start seriously planning this trip.

Look, if you are young and/ or fairly unfettered, Alaska has epic once in so many years coverage this season. Go experience it, the long days and long sunsets up there are awesome in the spring

Just found out that I have to leave my job a week earlier than expected and cut back to 36 hours a week, so looks like Washington it is. (It was going to be tight financially up in AK even if this didn't happen) Probably for the best anyway as I'll be able to drive out there (WA) as opposed to flying up to AK, that way there'll be no gaps in transportation or housing when I'm out there.

Anyone got any leads on jobs with any environmental consulting firms around the PNW? Spent the past few months doing field work for one around here and that's what I'm trying to continue doing this summer. I've also been working as a GIS technician for the past year, so I'm skilled in that realm, just trying to spend more time away from the computer this summer.
