This season's weird La Nina far-northwest and far-southwest snow trend -- a trend leaving everyone between high and dry -- is reflected in the 22 deepest ski resort snow packs in North America right now:

#1 – Eagle Crest, AK = 150″

#2 – Alyeska, AK = 104″

#3 – Mount Baker, WA = 95″

#4 – Alpenta, WA = 82″

#4 – Snoqualmie, WA = 82″

#5 – Mount Seymour, B.C. = 76″

#6 – Whistler Blackcomb = 75″

#7 – White Pass, WA = 72″

#8 – Steven’s Pass, WA = 71″

#9 – Schwitzer, ID = 69″

#9 – Cypress Mountain, B.C. = 69″

#10 – Crystal Mountain, WA = 68″

#11 – Whitewater, B.C. = 66″

#12 – Lookout Pass, ID = 64″

#13 – Ski Apache, NM = 63″

#13 – Revelstoke, B.C. = 63″

#13 – 49 Degrees North, WA = 63″

#13 – Fernie, B.C. = 63″

#14 – Taos, NM = 62″

#15 – Sunrise Park, AZ = 60″

#15 – Timberline Lodge, OR = 60″

#15 – Silverton, CO = 60″

I'll give it to you that their information isn't nearly as easy to come by, but I believe that Shames Mountain in Terrace is approaching a 4 meter base. That is somewhere north of 150" at the moment. This area claims one of the most consistent snowpacks on earth for a good reason.

What is more wild is that the measurements for that area are only taken at around 900m of elevation. If you tour up above the ski area, it only gets deeper.

Long live My Mountain Co-Op !

Shames Snow Report

New Snowfall 35cm

Base Depth 340cm @ Mid-Mtn

340cm = 134 Inches.

150" > 134"

Eaglecrest wins.

PS our area can't claim "the most consistent snowpacks on earth" so please, just let us have this one

Indeed, Ski Shames is #2. I had never before even heard of Ski Shames. It looks like just the kind of ski area I like -- small, quiet, down-home and deep. And a co-op no less. Awesome. Enjoy all that snow, I'm jealous.

For the record, I didn't do the snow pack compilation - I snagged it from an article that popped up today that I can't now re-locate (no citation - for shame, pun intended).

I can give a first-hand Tahoe report: zero inches of natural snow in the past month plus. Went to Mount Rose today and was bored to tears after about 3 runs. Happy to be going back to Alaska soon. :D

Truer words were never spoken! Dont forget epic backcountry and stable snowpack (relatively)

My apologies for the misinfo...but I still think shames might have the most if measured from top t. \ven if it doesn't, its still great to have more than baker right ? For those of you who can, head up there and support the co-op, I'd hate to see this magic place in jeopardy again !

Other then having the record for snow total, I've always thought that Baker has the best side and back country touring anywhere...

..and then I seen some Pics of Shames. Would love to be able to make it up there someday.

Do you think Shames is capable of taking over that record? could be a big year,,, just getting started really.

Exactly my thinking. I'm considering a trip later this winter.
