I'm currently using an old old table I got when my office was remodeling...I'm using two unattached 4x4s on top of it. On the top side of the 4x4s I have a old mountain bike tire cut and flattened to prevent the board from slipping and on the bottom of the 4x4s I have an old bike tube to prevent the block from slipping. I have no set up for sharpening edges, and I'm basically looking for some ideas to re-work my tuning set-up. I want to be able to wax/scrape my boards and my wifes tele and at skis (I like the bungy/eye hook set-up idea to hold the board and skis in place, but haven't done it yet).

The 2006 post on this topic does not have any pics and I haven't found anything all that interesting by searching the web.

We have a skate ski clamp set-up that use for our skinny skis, so I will need to have the front edge of the bench clear.

I'll try to post some photos tonight (but the set-up is super basic).

What are people using? Looking for simple but effective set-up.

Thanks,
string...

Check out the Trojan sawhorses on Amazon. They are kind of pricey but well worth it and very customizable. I bought the 35" model and used 2x8's. I will try to post some pics this evening.

Not much action on this topic, so I'll put my $0.02 in.

I just made a splitboard-specific waxing stand. It's just a chunk of wood with blocks on either end (placed along the board's center so it does not interfere with the Chinese hooks on different length boards), and with a spot in the center I can attach to the touring brackets. Since it's just a plank of wood, you can place it on any flat surface, or clamp it to your work bench.

This is the center bracket. Two angles of aluminum and a fiberglass rod (perfect 1/4") from a kid's bike flag:

Very snug, secure fit for both Spark LT and Voile brackets. I made it so that the ski is pulled down slightly to engage the center bracket. This makes everything quite stable.

I used some plastic lumber 2x2 screwed to the board to support the ends:

Simple, functional.

yeah, the split-specific set-up is pretty sweet.

since i have limted space and need to accomodate my resort boards, splits, skate skis and wife's teles and dynafit set ups, i need to come up with something that will work for everything.

for the skinny skis, we have a swix clamp set-up that works pretty well. hopefully i'll get something figured out soon...especially since we remain relatively dry in tahoe.

I just bought the Swix bench and like it a lot. http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... ps-sellers

Folds up small and will hold the board sideways for edge tunes as well.

Honestly though, I got a deal on it, if I didn't, I probably would have just gotten some saw horse clamps with 2x4's. Super easy. http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CEwQ8gIwAw

two pieces of 3"X3" square tube 6"ish long

drilled one 8mm hole near the edge on each one

bolt through the hole into binding mount thread, one at each end

c-clamp square tube to the bench

nice and solid, fits to any bench, carry my whole wax kit around in a small duffle bag

I have those Burton waxing stands with T bars, that you clamp to a countertop or two-bar stools. You can kind of see them here

They look kind of like these

The splitboard version is certainly a tenth as complicated as my recent xc ski waxing jig build was. The xc ski version adjustable in a lot of ways, but really no better at what it does than the splitboard bench. It just needs to accomodate more sizes and far flexier skis. Both the tip and tail supports slide in lockable tracks, and there are lots of heights I can fix the binding pin at.
