Going on my first extended bc trip this january and i'm wondering what extra binding parts everyone usually carries. Haven't done alot of splitting and never had any trouble with my bindings (unions) but I'm sure splitting wears them down much faster. I dont want to get stuck out there and have to jerry rig my bindings a days trip from somewhere warm . is appreciated.
I carry the following in my touring pack, and it's handled a half dozen strap/binder/sled failures in the backcountry over the years:
1. A few feet of tightwrapped duct-like tape 2. Qty:2 different size nut/bolt/washer 3. A couple feet of 3mm-ish cord 4. Multitool or knife 5. A spare binder pin
I just happened to break 2 binder straps, on my last 2 riding days. If I break another strap tomorrow, I'll freak out at the threepeat.

I might carry more then the normal person, but here is my list of spares and extras in my pack (other then just binding parts).
1) 1 of each spare nuts / bolts for everything that can fall out. Generally necessary ones that will need to be fixed if it happens. For things such as highback plates, pucks, allen screws for bindings. These generally don't fall out, but like to be safe. 2) Knife 3) Spare Binding straps (not the one with the buckle, but other side). I've broken them and it just sucks riding without a strap, I have 2 because top and bottom are different, and both have broke in the past. 4) Multitool and Allen wrenches (for sparks) 5) Tape 6) Voile Straps 7) Spare Batteries for mine or others beacon (ususally just leave in my setup bag, but good to friggen have!) 7) TP. Can never been to prepared.
And of course the essentials, with a couple lighters and fire starters.
Things I need still: Spare Pin Extra Cord
With slider tracks, make sure you put some duct tape on the bottom so your straps don't fall out on changeover. Its a pain when it does and you lose them.
a couple years ago i lost one of the bolts that held on my bindings strapped. I used a lift ticket wicket (wire) to hold it on. I had a spare part at home, but I kept that wire on the entire season...probably put 60 days on it and it held with no problem. Now I always keep a couple in my pack.
Thanks for the 2 cents ...I am going to definitely buy some extra bolts/washers now and hope nothing breaks cause riding down on 1 binding strap for something you have just spent 8 hours skinning ...well that just makes me
