Lets see, Gloves, Goggle, extra layer, usually two (it gets COLD here in CO), gloves, thin gloves, water, food, camera, room for skins on the down, shovel, probe, hat, ski strap, helmet straped to the outside (wish I had one of those mesh things to hold it securely), first aid kit, and poles strapped to the outside for the down (tips up!). I use the 32L. It usually isn't totally full, I'll strap down the compression straps most of the time. I like to have the extra room just in case. I guess my main issue with the BD Covert is that it would be nice to have another small, easily accessible pocket for things like a camera, snack etc. It is a pretty minimalist pack, which is ok for the most part.

Silo 30 here. Good for all day trips, including mountaineering with a light rope and some hardware. I need a little extra room, as I have bindings in the pack in tour mode (Dynafits), and I hate a pack that is too small making for a struggle to get the gear in.
The Silo 30 compresses well, so no problem when going light-I also cut out about 6 ounces of weight by removing the internal divider, probe and shovel handle slot. Of course I left the bladder sleeve. This pack is perfect for me.
Osprey Variant 52 for overnights.

^^^had one a few years back, similar to the pick you posted. was about 23-25L, nice features, but not the best construction (especially given its weight). wasn't impressed, and ditched it initially for a deuter glide.

Thank's. I kinda figured it was a "you get what you pay for" deal.

25 to 30ltr pack should be fine. I have used smaller packs as well and have had no probs. Dakine Heli-Pro is super nice and minimalist, as is my camelback menace. For longer days when i bring more mountaineering gear i bring my 30ltr but I could get away with a 22 probably.
