Howdy all,
Following on from the "what pants" thread. I've after a hi-top bib pant, but most of them are skinny mountaineery types and I wouldn't mind something a just a wee bit more steezy.
The Burton AK Skid and Idiom hi-top look like they fit the bill, but I've not seen them in the flesh. How does the sh1t flap work? I can't make it out from the photos.
Anyone got a pair? Do they keep the snow out? Photo's would be ace!
The Northface free thinker pants I looked at last year had a flap too, but it put me off what was otherwise a great piece of kit: top of the range fabric, but this completely un-waterproof zip across the back with a little flap over it that would trap snow where it would melt and come straight through the zip.
For the record, I'm not really that bothered about having a drop seat, it's just that they see to be part of the bib pant deal. And you never know...
The Theta bib from Arc'teryx isnt that tight. I tried on a Large the other day, and it fit me quite all right and I felt it was just loose enough. Large-tall is possibly even a tad better. Just for comparison I tried a Medium and that was what youd prob call "skinny mountaineer type". I looked like some skiier or w/e.
But anyway, if you find a good size of those pants they might work for you too. Just a tip. Might be worth a try. Im quite set on a pair of 'em myself.

oh yah. good point. I know Arc'Teryx, and I think maybe Marmot and a few others offer a short and tall version as well as the regular length. so if you are a medium, maybe a short large would be an appropriate baggy fit for you. the only hard part would be finding a place that has a selection of the short sizes...
