howdy. just picked up an osprey 26 backpack. a water bladder goes inside the pack and the hose runs out and down inside the shoulder strap. here's my question: am i missing something, or does the hose just hang out of the open flap, or does it route out some other way? it looks kind of half assed with the flap half open... (i know, i'm being a perfectionist here

I have an Osprey Switch 36 and it sounds similar. My hydration hose runs through the shoulder strap and terminates in a zippered enclosure. I haven't seen one without a zipper, that sounds wierd. If it truly just kind of hangs out there, make sure you blow all of the water out of hose, back into the bladder before you put it away. This will keep water from freezing and choking off the tube. I've used hydration packs in pretty cold weather (-20F) and this method has always worked pretty well.
