I'm in the market for a new sleeping bag and have been looking at the Western Mountaineering Kodiak and I'm up in the air about getting the microfiber bag or the goretex windstopper bag. The bag will be used for winter camping in the Sierra. Does anyone have experience with this bag? Suggestions and recommendations please.

I have the Lynx in GWS and my mountaineering partner has a Puma in GWS. The GWS material is wind resistant and shreds condensation well. If you may sleep in snow caves with pad(s) and bag, you would find GWS warmer and drier than MF. The slight weight and price difference is worth the benefit.

Thanks for the input! What temp range do you use your Lynx in?

So far the lowest temp I slept in was no colder than 10F. I have confident it will keep me warm at even lower temp. It took my bag over 4 weeks to arrive so order well in advance before your trip. If you want more mountaineers' feedback try searching the forum in summitpost.org.
