Like most nerds my age, my friends and I enjoy making short film documentaries of our trips. Up till now we've relied on video mode of my friends digital still camera. I'm looking to get an actual video camera. I've seen some models that can shoot both video and stills and they seem to be the best of both words like the Aiptek Hi Def video/still camera. I'd like something that has good battery life....is very very durable.....and shoots fairly good quality. any suggestions?

I wouldn't get that camera but that's just me.

I've been using the Canon HV10 with good success. Nice and lightweight, durable enough, great picture quality, tape based, etc.

Re video cameras with still cameras in them. Most consumer based options will include both in the same unit but from my experience I would recommend carrying a separate camera for stills.
