What are your opinions? I need this mostly for long commutes up and down the front range from Denver to Pueblo, but also for weekend mountain adventures. I like sports, rock music, dance, reggae, and blues.

It might not matter since they are trying to merge, pending regulators approval. Sirius does have Howard Stern which can be a big plus. Otherwise they are very similar in content etc...

I've got both on my computer. I prefer Sirius. Can't beat the jamband channel.

Sirius also has the punk channel now which is much better than "faction". I love to listen to the comedy channels. It's great on long roadtrips through desolate areas where normally you would not have any reception and you'd be sick of your Ipod selection.

Sirius by far. Stern is hilarious, plus their classic vinyl and rewind stations are sick. And even the backspin(old rap) and reggae are pretty good. Plus you got stations for the 60's 70's 80's 90's. Pretty much every genre. I haven't listened to regular radio in two years. Satellite's the only way to go.

I stand by this assesment of Sirius NFL, but it's been brought painfully to my attention during this playoff season, that if you want NHL your only option is XM if you want NFL your only option is Sirius....

surely I can't be the only Hockey/Football fan in north america?

Perhaps this is all by design.

Don't get one thinking the merger will get you the programming for both...the merger is an awfully long way from completion (think years not months), and nobody knows how they'll handle programming changes/sharing between the networks.
