How do you like those metas? I got a pair this year and took em out once, and I found the skins on em didn't grip very well.
I think the Meta's are excellent approach skis .. it has a railed metal edge that is great for getting good purchase for climbing traverses and has enough float to effectively travel in deep snow and break trail .. BUT .. the imbedded skin is worthless for any real climbing ... I use a full width skin that I place right over the imbedded skin it seems to stick well enough .. and for lower angled stuff or flats , I take the regular skin off .... unfortunately the imbedded skin makes the ski very slow for the flats and I ended up custom modifying a 120cm skiboard of the same general dimensions as the Meta , that had a flat smooth base and could be outfitted with ski crampons to use as an approach ski ...
