Yeah, you just gotta fool around with the straps a while 'til it gets as best as you can get it. Supposedly, the strap system for this year is a little better fitting than before.

I often use a zippered pant pocket. This has the benefits of easy access, and avoids most layering issues, unless you like to skin up in your boxers. Avoid external pockets (like many cargo pockets). I use the upper "normal" pocket with a little bungee type cord attached to my pants, just so I don't drop it when searching.
The older BCA harnesses were terrible (the harnesses were harder to use than the tranceivers), but the newer ones are much better and seem pretty similar to most on the market.

i have problems with eating it and having the beacon crush into my ribs. painful on one occasion and for the next two weeks after that. i second the upper normal zipped pant pocket. it takes a lot to get your pants ripped off. hell, my biggest wreck ever only twisted them half way around my body!
