I have three pair of the MSR Evo verts that my wife and I use to pack groceries into our house most days. I have virtually no complaints. Easy on and off and damn near the grip of crampons. I have an aversion to post-holing so I wouldn't rule them out for almost any trip. Prior to getting a splitboard, most of my volcano riding involved packing a board. Kicking steps with snowboard boots didn't cut it, so I would wear the MSR's with snowboard boots. I have 8" extensions on mine but my wife does well with the base length, even in deep soft snow. Having done a lot of the same trips on other snowshoes, I would say the MSR shoes are a more stable step platform that caused me a lot less blisters and pinches. Don't buy them without the bale! Very handy, just like on the splitboard. Skinning is definitely more efficient but the MSR's are just another tool in the chest.
