hey guys. I am news to splitboarding. just got a Jones solution with karakoram bindings. just set up my board and bindings today and i am a bit confused on how the heel risers work. Sorry for the newbie question but if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks for the responses. I know how it works. Its just that the riser is very hard to lift up. It seems like i need to unscrew first. Should the riser be able to just snap up?

there are molding marks that make it seem very tight, but after you lift them up the first time they are easier. I have the narrow part mounted toward the tail, but I think either way works.

They do seem incredibly tight at first since there is no ramp in the plastic to let the climbing bar ride up into position. Presumably one will wear in with use.

i felt the same way when i first put them on- like the plastic block was cut wrong and the wires were stuck. you just need to break them in. when im actually skinning im usually surprised at how little effort it takes to click them back and forth between up and down

ive got the stock riser that comes with the bindings pointing forward, so when its up the force of stepping on it is actually locking it in place. i might have less confidence with a taller wire in the back position since its used when the ski is at a steeper angle and the force is pushing it more backwards, though thats just a thought. its definitely never slipped though... despite the wiggle room its pretty secure

Good to know, you could also put the larger wire facing forward right, if you opt for dual height wires? Nothing wrong with using the Voile ones too right?
That's how I have mine mounted too. I had them the other way first and had a hard time getting a finger or pole tip under the center to lift the wires. Now I can easily grab it with a finger and thumb from the sides or wedge my pole tip under the side to get it up. I wish they bend was a little more drastic like the voile wires but then the binding would have to be higher off the board to clear the wire.

that and when I first set the board up a tried it both ways because I didnt remember were I put the instructions. As jason said I find its easier to grab the side instead the middle. But I also think it goes up and down smoother that way.
