I'm surprised no one's mentioned it already..or at least I haven't seen it posted on the site. Even more so why G3 hasn't spread the news already.

Finally!! G3 has re-worked its popular alpinist skins specifically for splitboards! I had a chance to demo these last season and they are a world of a difference compared to the Voile skins. Significantly lighter.. especially after a long day on the snow, and packed in a cold/wet pack, these skins do not retain as much water as I found the Voile ones did. The tail clip makes life a lot easier and leaves life on the hill a little less stressful not having to worry about sliding on the slope (whether because of poor technique, ice, or just sluffy conditions)

Definitely a worthy purchase! I'd recommend it to any splitboarder.

G3 makes sweet gear. Those tip connectors work perfect to.

When and where can they be purchased? I was about to do some DIY action on my skins, but if someone else has it down, then I'd go for it!

I had a local shop that was on their dealer list order them for me.

Is there anything the Voile skins are better at such as traction? My local shop recommends the Voile skins but these look sweet. Any place that reviews and compares climbing skins?

The Shop I got mine from doesnt even sell snowboards they are a mountaineering shop that sells telemark gear. The guy I spoke with uses the g3s on his teles and he said they rock. He said only one guy complained about them that he is aware of and he was trying to skin 35 degree + slopes not switchbacking. I will keep everyone posted about how they preforms. I chose theese over vollie because people say they are lighter and easier to put on and take off and the hold out water better

has anyone had a chance to test these out yet? from what i hear g3's biggest drawback is noticeably less grip than the bd/voile skins, but im hoping with this new product they may have addressed that. im all for reliable factory made tail clips and reduced weight, but not if the cost is performance where it counts

Jones Snowboards - The g3 has more glide and less grip. Voile/BD has less glide more grip. Montana skins are in between. The team uses a bit if everything. The best skins are the ones that do not fall off. If you are experienced at skinning then the g3's are good. If you are new to it go for the extra grip. Tail clips allow you to get more days out of skins but all skins seem to start failing after about 60 days. Good luck and let us know if you find the perfect skins. Cheers, jeremy

I think it matters what kind of conditions you are riding in in for sure. I think Voile is based in the rockies and are focused on stuff for light pow. Here in the PNW, we get the famous gloppy 35 degree cascade crud most of the time. I will have to ask my skier friends who know such things about how the G3s handle in the PNW glop.

I used my G3s yesterday in about a foot of fresh at white pass and I was very impressed with them. I didn't slip at all throughout the day on flat to roughly 45 degree slopes. They were easy to put on and take off, the tip and tail clips are great. They fit easily in my jacket pockets and were easy to pull apart when going back into touring mode.

I haven't used any other skins though, so I don't have anything to compare my experience to. But, that's my report for people looking for some feedback on the G3s. Take it for whatever it's worth.

Also, does everybody fold or roll their skins when riding? Is there advantages or disadvantages to either?

being able to easily throw them in your jacket without much bulk seems like a really good "pro" to these G3 skins. Your review seems very favorable, can't wait to try mine!
