Anybody have experience splitting a Nidecker Megalight or Legend? A friend has both and we may split one of them.
Question is: They have a lot of carbon fiber in the deck, and the only carbon fiber composite board I ever split unloaded/rebounded after we cut it. The shape changed a little and the camber doubled or tripled! This was not a Nidecker, but had a carbon fiber topsheet similar to the Nidecker and is my only experience cut a carbon composite board.
Please let me know if you guy have chopped one of these or have had a similar experience or advise.
Cheers
Pedro

I would assume it would be fine, they still use full wood cores, they just use carbon stringers and additives to the fiberglass. Shouldn't cause any issues for a split. I can chat with the nidecker rep if you are still concerned though
Nidecker's are made in Switzerland and have tons of carbon and carbon topsheets. Jones' are made in Tunsia and have no carbon topsheet. I had a major issue splitting a board with lots-o-carbon and that why I started this thread...
To quote Pulp Fiction:
"ain't the same fuckin' ballpark, it ain't the same league, it ain't even the same fuckin' sport."
Cheers bitches

I did cut a Nidecker Legend 174 5 years back and it was a breeze... It has held up really well to, I actually still use it as a rock board... Here are my observations: Wood core except for tip and tail which are carbon fibre (no problem to cut) I sealed the edges with epoxy
This board was a really good ride. I would totally do it again. Also, I would not go the megalight route, the center cut outs would make the board weaker...
Anyway if anybody wants pictures... feel free to ask
