Well, after my machinist buddy disappeared on me, I went old school with the air cutoff tools and a band saw. The end result was a couple of great looking bases to build the next couple of round 3 binders. I am certain that these will be quite a bit more responsive and strongest yet.
Here is one of the bases after welding

Here it is assembled looking through the heel cup. doesn't get much lower than this!

Note to self...remove tree crashing from binding test procedures!!!
Oh yeah, these binders came in at 910 grams with pin. Only 20 grams heavier than the bent metals, but significantly better unless testing proves otherwise.
Glad your back in action! Nothing is worse than getting hurt in the early season. How's the leg? You taking orders yet? I got a couple of extra BM base plates and sliders.

Leg is healing fairly quick. Just walked around the house today for the first time without the aircast only 5 days after having the hard cast removed.
Looking forward to my first day back on the hill. Lots of resort riding to build back the strength and flexibility lost. First BC day planned for the echo split fest in 2 weeks as long as everything feels solid enough.
Now on the binders, I actually just shipped off a couple pair on Saturday. I would be happy to make more. Anyone else interested, PM me for details. I am looking into adding a couple of features to the project. Toe ramps and LT bracket compatibility. Those features will cost a little more and so far, it hasn't been tested. Should be pretty straight forward though and not add any complexity, just time.
Gotta say each version impresses me more. Take it easy with that foot. I don't know your age, whes I was 26 I also broke my ankle in April (luckily end of season) and was back on the slopes in December. Now I think I would need longer to recover.
